BDWest Masters Badminton Tournament 2024
🏆 Tournament Overview
The badminton event shall be organised as per the international rules and given BDWEST badminton formats & rules stated in this guideline. During ongoing badminton games, BDWEST badminton committee shall make decision/s, if there is a dispute.
�️ Authority & Disputes
BDWEST Badminton committee may seek second by BDWEST Sports committee prior to provide final decision on any dispute. The committee's decision shall be final on all points of fact and scoring system during the entire BDWEST tournament.
⏰ Walk Over Rules
⚠️ Attendance Requirements
- 5-Minute Rule: Players who are not present within 5 minutes when called upon to play any match, shall forfeit and a walkover will be awarded to the opposing team.
- Emergency Protocol: In case of emergency, the BDWest management must be notified immediately.
- Management Discretion: The management team may consider some extra time depends on the circumstance of match schedule.
📋 Game Point and Match System
Match Start Procedure
- During start of match, a team will be given privilege to choose side/shuttle upon winning the toss thrown by umpire
Group Stage Format
- Format: Round robin league with a single game of 21 points
- Winner: Whoever reach 21 points will be considered as the winner of the game
Knockout Stage Format
Tournament Knockout Structure
- Quarter Final: Single game match
- Deuce Rules: Applied up to 25 points from quarter final onwards
- 25-Point Rule: If score is tied at 25, then team scoring 26 points will be considered winner
- Semi Finals: Best of 3 games
- Grand Final: Best of 3 games
🏸 Special Rule
Roof Contact: If the shuttle touches the roof during play, point will be given to the opponent.
🏸 Continuous Play, Misconduct & Penalties
Continuous Play
Play shall be continuous from the first service until the match is concluded.
Intervals
- Break Duration: Not exceeding 3 minutes between the first and second game
- Applicable Matches: This will apply only in Semi and Grand finals
Prohibited Actions
❌ A player shall not:
- Deliberately cause delay in, or suspension of, play
- Deliberately modify or damage the shuttle in order to change its speed or its flight
- Behave in an offensive or inappropriate manner
- Be guilty of misconduct
Note: The umpire shall administer during full match.
👨⚖️ Officials and Appeals
Umpire Responsibilities
🔧 An umpire shall:
- Be in charge of the match, the court and its immediate surrounds
- Uphold and enforce the rules of Badminton and, especially, call a "fault" or a "let/reserve" should either occur
- Give a decision on any appeal regarding a point of dispute, if made before the next service is delivered
- Appoint or replace line judges or a service judge
Final Authority
BDWEST badminton committee and sports committee decision shall be final on all points of fact and scoring system during entire BDWEST tournament.
🏥 Medical Timeout
🩹 Medical Timeout Rules
- Allowance: A single medical timeout will be allowed
- Duration: Maximum time allowed for treatment is 5 minutes
- Resumption: At which time play must resume otherwise the opposing team will be declared winner
- Timer Start: This 5-minute time limit begins when the player requests a medical timeout

By participating the player understands that there are risks associated with participation in this tournament, such as:
- Physical and/or psychological injury
- Pain, suffering, illness, disfigurement
- Temporary or permanent disability
- Death or economic loss
These injuries or outcomes may arise from:
- His/her own or other's actions, inactions, or negligence
- The condition of the Activity location(s) or facility(ies)
The player assumes all risks of his/her participation in this tournament, whether known or unknown, including travel to and from the Activity (including air travel) or any events incidental to this tournament.
